Magdrive
Literally rocket-science
Deep-Tech
Challenge
Magdrive have a groundbreaking hardware solution but lacked a brand system that matched the importance of their invention. They needed to project their credibility to investors, new hires and customers.
Solution
Magdrive literally enable spaceships to propel their way around the universe – it is no exaggeration to say this is sci-fi made real. With that in mind the visual identity solution leans into big, bold cinematic typography to cut-through the noise and celebrate their beautiful products, all with a nod to iconic sci-fi movies, without falling into pastiche.
Their brand infrastructure included a clear strategy and messaging framework to explain complex technology simply, a scalable identity system that could stretch across multiple product lines and growth assets including an investor deck and website designed to inspire confidence with both technical and commercial audiences.
Engineering a bold voice
We leant into bold typography to project confidence and presence, pairing it with a clean, modernist typeface that evokes precision and scientific credibility. The contrast creates a visual language that feels both assertive and intelligent, balancing the excitement of breakthrough engineering with the discipline and rigour of aerospace science.
Structured clarity
The website was built on a precise, grid-based layout system that mirrors the discipline and engineering rigour of Magdrive’s technology. Every element, from typography to imagery, is anchored to a consistent spatial logic, creating a sense of order and control. The result is a digital experience that feels measured and intentional, where clarity leads and the design quietly communicates technical excellence.
Making the future feel tangible
We identified the key touchpoints where Magdrive’s credibility would be tested, from the first handshake to the deep-dive technical read. Rather than over-designing each, we focused on strong fundamentals of type, image, colour and layout, letting the system’s simplicity project confidence.
Outcome
Since our project, Magdrive raised $10.5M in seed funding, launched in the US, secured its first in-space test and established a strong position as an emerging leader in next-generation propulsion.
Testimonial
Working with Dan was a pleasure. The ideas he brought to us challenged our concepts of our brand in a truly positive and impactful way, and this clearly translated into the design work with a range of choices that all had a clear advantage. From working with Dan our brand is in a position that works for our needs now, and for our massive growth ahead.
